Copenhagen’s grandest address has stood on Kongens Nytorv for more than 270 years: Hotel d’Angleterre, five-star superior in its own words, with Marchal, One MICHELIN Star in 2026. Around it a new generation has grown up: Nimb, 38 rooms inside Tivoli with a rooftop pool; Hotel Sanders near the Royal Danish Playhouse; Nobis beside the Glyptotek; Villa Copenhagen in the old central post office building by the station; and 1 Hotel Copenhagen, the former Hotel Skt. Petri, in the Latin Quarter. Along the harbour, the old warehouses of Nyhavn and the Admiral Hotel keep the city’s seafaring past.
Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn
Hotel d’Angleterre, at Kongens Nytorv 34, has 92 rooms and Marchal, One MICHELIN Star in the 2026 guide. A few minutes away, Hotel Sanders has 54 rooms, Sanders Kitchen, the TATA cocktail bar and a rooftop; Herman K, 31 rooms on Bremerholmen, and Hotel Petra, 40 rooms above Petra (Bib Gourmand), are in the MICHELIN hotel selection too. On the harbour, the Admiral Hotel fills a warehouse of 1787, and 71 Nyhavn Hotel the old warehouses at the mouth of the canal.

Nimb, at Bernstorffsgade 5, has 38 rooms and suites inside Tivoli, with a roof terrace and pool. Nobis Hotel Copenhagen stands next to Tivoli, the Central Station and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, and Villa Copenhagen, with 390 rooms, has a pool and wellness, Rug Kitchen and Rug Bakery. In Vesterbro, the Andersen and Absalon hotels share Helgolandsgade.
Book ahead for summer and for Christmas in Tivoli, from mid-November to early January.
The old town
1 Hotel Copenhagen, at Krystalgade 22, is the former Hotel Skt. Petri, with 282 rooms and the PÆRE dining room and bar; 25hours Hotel Indre By is on Pilestræde, and Hotel Alexandra fills its 61 rooms with Danish mid-century classics.
Design and boutique
On Paper Island, 25hours Hotel Paper Island looks across the harbour; Zoku Copenhagen, an apartment hotel, is on Amagerfælledvej near Islands Brygge; Manon Les Suites, a Guldsmeden hotel, is by the Lakes.
Our advice: stay near a Metro station: the M3 City Circle and the M2 to the airport make every district easy.
